New Year, New Shoes
College changed me in many ways, my sense of style being the most drastic. I take many more fashion risks and enjoy standing out as opposed to high school when it was easier to just try and fit in. The most dramatic change I underwent involved the shoes I purchased for New Years Eve.
I was walking idly through DSW's clearance section waiting impatiently for my sister to pick out a pair of sneakers so we could go and get Chipotle. But then something caught my eye. A dark silvery, almost charcoal, glitter. I looked to my right and saw the most perfect pair of booties I had ever laid eyes on. High heeled, but not too high. Sparkly, but not too sparkly. AND ON CLEARANCE! I tried them on and fell in love but nearly convinced myself not to get them. I would never wear them, I thought. However, my sister walked over and immediately exclaimed "THOSE ARE SO CUTE!" The deal was sealed. Purchasing these booties was monumental for me because they are something I never would have even had the nerve to try on a year ago. Yet here I am today rockin' them!
The key with a statement shoe like this? Let them be the statement! The rest of the outfit can/should be toned down to give attention to the shoes and also not to overwhelm those around you. I chose a simple velvet cami and black jeans to center this outfit around my symbolic shoes.
How is your style changing this New Year? Let me know in the comments! HAPPY 2018 :))))
