The Help by Kathryn Stockett was a really good read. This book shows what it was like to like in the South during a time when many people had African Americans working for them as "maids." It was very interesting, and it taught you a lot while still being entertaining. This book has been made into a movie, but make sure you read the book first!
Summary: Aibileen and Minny are maids for white families in Jackson, Mississippi. They don't like the way they're being treated by whites, but it's the only way that they can make money. When Miss Skeeter comes to them with a crazy and dangerous idea, they are not sure whether to go through with it. This can help blacks in the South, but it can hurt them and their families. Will they reveal their thoughts on what it's like to be "the help"?
